In the seat of the city's political power, the Council Chamber in the Civic Centre, 28 young people became Newcastle's second elected Youth Council on Friday evening.

- Candidates stood in four districts - West, East, Central and North
- 5,579 votes from young people aged 11-18
WEST (in order of votes) - Ryan Ruddy, Aaron Nicholson, Amaan Nadeem, Jack Newton, Elisha Watson, Liam Binns, Christopher Davison, Vanessa Bola, Courtney Todd.
EAST (in order of votes) - Neil Kotre, Daniel Bell, Katie Cowie, Michelle Cichyova, Emily McGonagle, Amelia Bartlett, Sofia Melnik.
CENTRAL (in order of votes) - Simran Lajmi, Matthew Otubu, Mariam Pamsm-Conteh, Jessica Cripps, Lucy Bennett, Emma Beattie, Anna Worthy.
NORTH (in order of votes) - Dominic Wills, Beth Solomon, Sarah Bontoft, Farai Jerahuni, Martyn Steel.
Newly elected Youth Councillors take office on 4 November. They will join four previously-elected Newcastle UK Youth Parliament members (Razzia Gafur, Emma Neibig, Eddie Shields and David Larke) who stand down in February 2013.
Two seats are vacant in the NORTH of the city (postcodes NE3 and NE13). Young people aged 11-17 interested in representing young people in this part of Newcastle should get in touch with the Youth Council.
